• Making Memories A big thank you to Splendid Evasion for creating our unforgettable trip to Portugal. There is a big difference between a tour and an “experience,” and knowing that difference is what makes Splendid Evasion truly unique and very special. Our sister-in-law Sharon worked on the plan that was created with Nuno Silva of Splendid Evasion. And in Sharon’s words, “he really listened and cared.” to make our trip, our trip. They are not a one size fits all travel company. They marry “seeing” with “being.” We learned a lot about the history of Portugal and how it impacted their beautiful and proud culture. Some history, lots of culture and hands on adventures like taking a Portuguese tile making class after a guided tour of the tile museum in Lisbon or baking bread in the Schist Village and then having it as part of our picnic made for moments that we will never forget and happily share with friends and family. We were guided by smart, charming and accessible guides, like Adrianna, Diego, Diogo, Marie and others. They were sensitive to our interests and it made for delightful visits and a real sense of familiarity and comfort about wherever we were. Our preference for small boutique hotels was fulfilled. They were each designed with a unique point of view coupled with modern amenities. It doesn’t get better than that! Splendid Evasion’s recommendations for restaurants (often with reservations at coveted venues) had us taking notes to pass on to others. It was special. And yes, we’d do it again!

• Memorable Trip! We were going to northern Portugal for a Habitat for Humanity build and wanted to spend a week plus before the trip seeing Porto, Peneda-Geres and Douro International Nature Park. I wasn't really sure how to arrange everything and didn't want to rent a car. I connected with Nuno and he made it an effortless adventure. The places that he choose for us to stay were small and very boutique spots. This is what we enjoy the most. The guides that he arranged for us in each spot were amazing. We love to hike and see birds and wildlife. He set up guides who were excellent in these areas. We had car transfers between spots and he joined us in Miranda do Douro so that our transfers would not be so long. We thoroughly enjoyed his company for those several days. His planning and ideas made our trip so memorable. He is an amazing person and we hope we will be able to return to Portugal and have him plan another adventure. He is a gem!! Thanks Nuno for a wonder full time.
